Everyday details transform into layered narratives that reveal memory, connection, and hidden beauty.

Exploring moments of memory and visual fragments

Corina Stigter (NL) began her creative journey after years of working in the fashion and advertising industries. What started as a hobby in photography soon developed into a deeper artistic pursuit, leading her to study at the FotoVakschool and later complete her art education at the Nieuwe Akademie in 2023. Today, alongside her family life and part-time work, she dedicates herself to creating images that emerge from both everyday encounters and unexpected moments. While she shares a collective studio with other artists, much of her work unfolds at home or while “on the road,” where she intuitively collects, combines, and experiments with visual fragments.

Corina’s artistic practice thrives on play and discovery—photography becomes a way to record and reassemble impressions of daily life. Her images often carry the sense of collecting small pieces of memory, reconfigured into new narratives that oscillate between recognition and abstraction.

For Studio UK Editions, Corina presents works from two series that highlight her sensitivity to both social history and formal composition. Royal Glass – Woman stems from a black-and-white series inspired by changing social customs. Drawing on personal memories of a time when smoking was a natural part of family and social gatherings, she juxtaposes familiar motifs—such as cigarettes placed in glasses at birthdays—with figures from the Royal Glass series. In doing so, she constructs layered settings where fragments of the past resonate with new meanings, leaving viewers to wonder about the relationships between these characters.

The work Pink takes a different approach, focusing on color as a disruptive yet captivating element. Here, the vivid pink acts as an eye-catching anchor within a graphic composition, subtly disturbed by imperfections. Through combining multiple photographic fragments, Corina transforms color into a narrative device: at once playful, alluring, and suggestive of hidden clues. Together, these works exemplify her practice of weaving visual memory into contemporary photographic storytelling.

corina stigter IN Her own words

  • "My home environment, people, personal objects, old materials, printed matter, and books constantly inspire me. I’m drawn to the stories and traces embedded in everyday surroundings."

  • "My ideas often arise spontaneously—at home, on the bus, or in small encounters. Tiny details—a loose strand of hair, a crack in a cup—catch my attention. Photography allows me to shape these observations and give them a new life. Often, these images go into my personal archive, reemerging later to form a narrative alongside new works. Sometimes objects themselves become part of the story. Through arranging, combining, and experimenting with scale, images begin to speak to one another, weaving memories and personal histories into cohesive compositions."

  • "I’m currently developing ideas around the theme Tussenruimte (In-between Space), which has many layers—literal, figurative, and symbolic. This rich complexity is providing inspiration and slowly shaping concrete projects I’m working on now."

  • "Since childhood, I’ve loved looking at pictures. I dream of creating a lavish coffee-table book of my photography, organized by theme, beautifully designed, printed on fine paper with an alluring cover. I’m also intrigued by collaborating with artists whose work is very different from mine, exploring contrasts that could spark exciting new directions."
